About the role#
As a Wood Procurement Intern, you will gain hands-on experience in the forestry sector. You will work with a mentor to learn about purchasing fiber for pellet production and how that fiber integrates into our operations. This role involves project management and direct exposure to plant operations through field visits and team collaboration.
What you'll do#
- Partner with your mentor to build skills in wood procurement.
- Assess a specific project area, such as fiber reception or chipping capacity.
- Collaborate with Fiber team members and Operations staff to understand procurement workflows.
- Communicate project progress to cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Develop recommendations that improve the financial performance of our fiber procurement processes.
- Join in scheduled intern activities, volunteer events, and field trips.
What you'll need#
- Standing as a rising junior or senior pursuing a degree in Forestry.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- A self-sufficient work style and a focus on results.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to work well both independently and in a team.
