About the role#
We are looking for an Engineering and Operations Intern to join our manufacturing facility in Faison, NC. You will support process improvement and equipment reliability efforts while gaining hands-on experience in an industrial environment. This role involves working alongside experienced professionals in process engineering, operations, and maintenance.
What you'll do#
- Assist with process improvement projects to increase efficiency and product quality.
- Collect and analyze technical data to support plant operations and equipment performance.
- Use Microsoft Excel, Power BI, and project tracking systems to document progress.
- Shadow team members to learn about capital project planning, equipment reliability, and continuous improvement.
- Create or update standard operating procedures.
- Participate in plant meetings and improvement discussions.
- Support data collection during process trials or maintenance events.
- Track and organize spare parts, tools, and equipment.
- Monitor equipment reliability and document maintenance tasks.
- Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action planning.
- Collaborate with safety and operations staff.
- Support the troubleshooting of basic process and equipment issues.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering.
- A GPA of 2.7 or greater.
- A strong interest in manufacturing and industrial systems.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Willingness to work in a plant environment, which may include hot, cold, or noisy conditions.
- Ability to follow all plant safety guidelines and use personal protective equipment.
- Ability to walk, stand, or climb during plant tours and lift up to 25 lbs occasionally.
