    About the role#

    Engineers and Geoscientists BC is seeking an Articling Student to join the team for a term starting in September 2027. This role provides hands-on exposure to professional governance, regulatory decision-making, and discipline processes. You will develop a foundation in administrative law, procedural fairness, and statutory interpretation while working under the guidance of the Manager, Legal Counsel Policy.

    What you'll do#

    • Analyze and provide advice on issues related to the Professional Governance Act.
    • Conduct legal research into policy, privacy, and governance matters.
    • Prepare legal memoranda, bylaw changes, presentations, and reports.
    • Assist with the investigation and discipline of registrants, including the drafting and negotiation of Consent Orders.
    • Support files related to unauthorized practice, misuse of title, and associated court applications.
    • Assist with issues involving external organizations such as the Ombudsperson, the Human Rights Tribunal, and the courts.
    • Participate in training covering ethics, practice management, and core lawyering skills required by the Law Society of British Columbia.

    What you'll need#

    • An undergraduate law degree with excellent grades.
    • Immediate eligibility for enrollment in the articling program of the Law Society of British Columbia.
    • Completion of the June 2027 Accelerated PREP session.
    • A strong interest in administrative law, contract law, civil litigation, and privacy law.
    • High attention to detail and a commitment to work quality.

    Location & details#

    • Location: Burnaby, British Columbia.
    • Term: Summer 2027 (beginning September 2027).
    • Work Modality: Hybrid, with a minimum of 2 days per week required in-office.
    • Compensation: This is a full-time, paid position with an annual salary of $65,500. The organization covers the cost of the Law Society of BC bar admission program.
    • Benefits: Includes 8% pay in lieu of benefits, 10 vacation days per annum (pro-rated), and a flex day program.
