About the role#
As a Human Resources Intern, you will work with HR leadership to learn the full employee life cycle from recruitment to retirement. This role provides hands-on experience with daily HR operations, including candidate sourcing, onboarding, benefits administration, and compliance. You will support the team at the Reno Operations Center while developing skills in time and people management within a real business environment.
What you'll do#
- Post job openings and review resumes.
- Contact and prescreen candidates via phone and schedule interviews with management.
- Prepare new hire documentation and manage the onboarding process.
- Lead or participate in onboarding presentations.
- Manage employee engagement initiatives, such as newsletters and raffles.
- Coordinate employee events and track progress through the Culture Committee.
- Support onboarding and offboarding logistics.
- Manage survey responses to gather feedback on events.
- Participate in departmental meetings to communicate HR initiatives.
- Assist with technology transitions in Paychex and BambooHR.
- Audit I-9 forms and maintain record retention.
- Review and update job descriptions.
- Track 90-day reviews and send reminders to managers.
- Support insurance processes for workers' compensation, disability, and health benefits.
- Promote 401(k) enrollment and audit payroll deductions.
- Assist with income and employment verifications.
- Build and maintain professional relationships with employees and vendors.
What you'll need#
- High school diploma and current enrollment in a higher education program related to Business Administration or Human Resources.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and Google Suite.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to exercise tact, initiative, and independent judgment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Patience and the ability to work in an environment that changes frequently.
