About the role#
Duquesne University is hiring a Physics Tutor to support students in introductory physics courses. This role focuses on guiding students through challenging concepts and problems. Tutors act as learning facilitators, helping students arrive at their own solutions rather than providing direct answers. This is a paid, part-time, on-site position with rolling availability.
What you'll do#
- Help students understand physics concepts and skills.
- Prepare for sessions by solving homework problems in advance.
- Staff the Physics Tutoring Center during scheduled hours.
- Maintain a productive learning environment in the center.
- Assist with test administration and proctoring for the physics department.
What you'll need#
- Knowledge of college-level general physics.
- Math proficiency equivalent to high school algebra.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Reliability and the ability to maintain a rigid schedule.
- Current enrollment in a program at Duquesne University.
Location & details#
- Location: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
- Work modality: On-site at the Physics Tutoring Center.
- Compensation: $12.00 per hour.
- Note: Students in this role may not hold additional employment at Duquesne University.
