About the role#
Douglas Machine Inc. offers a Machine Tool internship for students to gain hands-on experience as a machinist while attending school. You will receive guidance on specific machinist duties and work to expand your skills through training and cross-training opportunities.
What you'll do#
- Follow machining instructions from blueprints and machine drawings.
- Perform second operations, including stamping part numbers and deburring parts during machine cycle time.
- Verify parts meet size, shape, and tolerance specifications using measuring tools.
- Perform basic machine setups and functions while building your programming and editing skills.
- Keep your work center and the surrounding area clean.
- Observe all safety rules and regulations.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Machine Tool Technology program.
- At least one semester of education or training in Machine Tool Technology is preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret machine drawings and blueprints.
- Willingness to pursue training and cross-training in various areas of the machine shop.
