About the role#
The Electric Transmission Surveying Services internship provides hands-on experience with land surveying and geospatial tasks for transmission lines, substations, and related infrastructure. You will work under the supervision of experienced personnel to apply your academic knowledge to real-world projects. This role involves a mix of research, data organization, and technical documentation, with opportunities to observe field activities.
What you'll do#
- Research internal survey records, deeds, easements, plats, and right-of-way information.
- Organize and review survey data and perform basic computations.
- Prepare or update maps, drawings, spreadsheets, and databases.
- Support limited CAD and GIS assignments.
- Participate in supervised field activities to observe the collection and processing of geospatial data.
- Collaborate with the Survey Team and internal stakeholders such as engineering and construction.
- Maintain project records and communicate progress on assigned tasks.
- Follow all company safety requirements and technical procedures.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree or technical credential in Land Surveying, Civil Engineering, Geomatics, Geography, GIS, Geospatial Science, or a related field.
- A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Expected graduation date of Spring 2028 or later.
- Basic understanding of surveying, engineering, mapping, or GIS concepts.
- Ability to work in a team and follow instructions.
- Basic analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Commitment to safe work practices and accuracy.

- Location: Glen Allen, Virginia.
- Work Modality: Hybrid (3-2 schedule).
- Employment: Full-time, paid internship.
