About the role#
Dometic is hiring a Co-op Product Designer - Software to join our Marine team in Richmond, British Columbia. This role supports our engineering and technical staff across a variety of projects, including motor control, IoT, and machine learning. You will work on-site, contributing to both product development and manufacturing processes within our facility.
What you'll do#
- Design and program embedded and utility software.
- Develop and execute software unit tests.
- Perform hardware and software integration testing.
- Conduct system level testing on electronic systems, including steering devices, actuators, displays, and CAN bus networks.
- Run proof of concept projects on technologies such as motor control, IoT, and machine learning.
- Support functional test plans and perform mechatronic design, sensor evaluation, and prototype assembly.
- Use scripting for test automation, data analysis, and process improvement.
- Manage control system setup, troubleshooting, and PID tuning.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an Engineering program at an accredited university (Computer, Electrical, Mechanical, or Cybersecurity majors).
- Proficiency in C and C++ for embedded systems.
- Familiarity with CAN bus networks and protocols.
- Experience with serial communication protocols like SPI, I2C, and Modbus.
- Exposure to unit, functional, integration, and automated testing.
- Ability to use engineering tools such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and logic analyzers.
- Strong problem solving skills and the ability to work both independently and within a team.

- Compensation: $24.50 - $28.50 CAD per hour.
