About the role#
The Canada Sales Tax Intern supports our Canadian Sales Tax team with GST/HST, QST, and PST overpayment reviews, audit support, and refund filings. This is a full-time, paid summer 2027 opportunity based in Toronto. You will work alongside experienced consultants to analyze data, conduct tax research, and prepare client deliverables.
What you'll do#
- Support Canadian sales tax reviews through data analysis and introductory research.
- Import, organize, and validate client data for recovery and exposure analysis.
- Review vendor invoices and locate supporting documentation.
- Maintain data using Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Assist with the preparation of client reports and tax refund claim documentation.
- Support vendor communications for refund follow-ups under supervision.
- Research basic Canadian commodity tax questions and summarize findings.
- Complete tasks under the guidance of senior consultants and managers.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- Prior coursework or exposure to taxation, accounting, or finance is preferred.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Detail-oriented mindset with an interest in data analysis and problem-solving.
- Willingness to learn, take direction, and collaborate in a team environment.
- Exposure to SAP, Oracle, or other ERP systems is considered a plus.
