About the role#
As a Mechanical Engineering Intern, you will join our integrated design team to contribute to the design of mechanical systems for various building types. You will work alongside mechanical engineers and professionals across architecture and interiors to gain hands-on experience with the design process from early concepts through construction administration. This is a paid, full-time position that runs from May 18 through August 6, 2027.
What you'll do#
- Design mechanical systems for new construction and building renovation projects alongside a licensed engineer.
- Attend design team meetings to observe how multi-disciplinary teams coordinate their work.
- Assist with the design and development of construction documents using Revit.
- Develop HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection designs from concept through completion.
- Visit an active construction site.
What you'll need#
- Completed at least one year in an ABET-accredited Mechanical or Architectural Engineering program.
- Experience or interest in BIM workflows, such as Autodesk Revit MEP.
- Third-year student status in an accredited engineering program is preferred.
- Interest in architectural building design is preferred.
- Passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam is preferred.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Location & details#
- Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota.
- Modality: On-site and hybrid. The firm follows a four-day in-office model with flexibility to work remotely on Fridays.
- Compensation: The hourly rate for this position is $20 to $26 USD.
