About the role#
The DP Empowered: Student Success Teacher leads a comprehensive 4-year advising program for students in grades 9-12. This role focuses on preparing students for high school success and the development of personalized postsecondary plans through a combination of whole group instruction and individual advising. You will help students explore their identities, develop academic and life skills, and navigate potential career paths.
What you'll do#
- Lead the DP Empowered class, including intellectual preparation and the execution of curriculum lesson plans.
- Help students explore and cultivate personal, career, and academic interests through in-class experiences and individual check-ins.
- Facilitate age-appropriate conversations and activities centered on current events, community service, and the celebration of student culture and identity.
- Build a positive classroom culture through effective management practices.
- Conduct ongoing group advising sessions to assess the academic, emotional, social, and behavioral needs of students.
- Collaborate with the scholar support team to determine appropriate steps to support student success and help students identify summer opportunities.
What you'll need#
- A Bachelor’s degree (required).
- An MSW or MSEd in School Counseling (preferred).
- Experience in both teaching and school counseling or social work.
- Strong interest in project-based learning and discussion-based activities.
- Highly skilled at classroom management.
- Ability to provide strong feedback on student work and craft exceptional written communications.
- Ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders and families.
- Relevant academic backgrounds include Psychology, Human Resources, Sociology, Political Science, Communications, History, Art, or Business Administration.

- Compensation: $70,000 - $80,000, commensurate with experience.
