Controls Engineer - Co-Op

About the role#

Dematic is seeking a Controls Engineer Co-Op to join our project implementation team. This role provides hands-on experience in the planning and execution of engineering activities within the transportation, logistics, and supply chain industry. You will work alongside experienced professionals to support system design and field commissioning.

What you'll do#

• Assist the Controls CAD team in developing layout and electrical schematic drawings using Maestro and AutoCAD-E.
• Support the preparation and creation of Bills of Material.
• Learn to identify and place various controls components within system designs.
• Gain foundational knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and programming techniques.
• Travel to North American job sites to assist with the commissioning of equipment and systems.
• Identify and resolve routine technical problems, seeking guidance for complex issues.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment as a full-time student at an accredited U.S. college or university, pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with an interest in collaborative teamwork.
• Proactive, diligent, and self-motivated work ethic.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD or similar modeling programs is preferred.

• This position is based on-site in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
• This is a paid, full-time co-op role.
