About the role#
Dematic is seeking a Controls Engineer Co-Op to join our engineering team. You will be assigned to a project implementation team to assist with routine planning and execution of engineering activities. This role involves gaining hands-on experience with system design, PLC programming, and equipment commissioning.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with the Controls CAD team to develop layout and electrical schematic drawings using Maestro and AutoCAD-E.
- Assist in the preparation and creation of Bills of Material.
- Learn to identify and place various controls components within system designs.
- Gain foundational knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and programming techniques.
- Travel to North American job sites to assist with the commissioning of equipment and systems.
- Identify and resolve routine technical problems, seeking guidance from team members when necessary.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a full-time student at an accredited U.S. college or university.
- Actively pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Interest in working within collaborative, team-based environments.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD or similar modeling software is preferred.

- This position is based on-site in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
- This is a paid, full-time co-op opportunity with a rolling term.
