About the role#
Dematic is hiring a Controls Engineering Intern or Co-Op to join the Customer Service Modernizations and Upgrades group. You will work under the direction of senior engineers to perform basic tasks and support project execution. This is a paid, full-time position.
What you'll do#
- Assist in the design of routine systems that integrate hardware and software.
- Support lead engineers with project documentation and daily tasks.
- Aid in the start-up, commissioning, and testing of material handling systems.
- Assist with software PLC emulation and testing.
- Recommend ideas for productivity improvement, cost reduction, and customer satisfaction.
- Identify problems as they occur and take steps to resolve them.
- Communicate project status and technical details clearly through writing and speech.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a BS or BA program for Electrical, Mechanical, Computer, or Industrial Engineering.
- Up to 4 years of experience in a related field.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical manuals.
- Proficiency or the ability to learn internal systems like CAD and SAP.
- Basic knowledge of professional engineering principles and practices.
- Experience with PLC programming, such as Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or Schneider, is preferred but not required.
Location & details#
- The role is based in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
- This is an on-site position.
- You must be willing to travel 40-50% to customer locations within the United States.
- Compensation is estimated between $20.00 and $29.00 per hour.
