About the role#
Deltak Inc. is hiring an Engineering Intern to support our boiler and heat recovery steam generator systems team. This is a full-time, paid position based on-site in Minneapolis. We offer a rolling internship term.
What you'll do#
- Perform thermal and mechanical design reviews for HRSG and boiler systems to ensure they meet process requirements and guarantees.
- Identify discrepancies between as-sold designs and customer specifications.
- Design flow manipulators like vanes and perforated plates to achieve proper gas flow distribution.
- Design drum internals to meet steam purity requirements.
- Review and design pipe sizes and layouts, including circulation piping, to maintain correct velocities and pressure drops.
- Create mechanical and process flow diagrams showing temperatures, pressures, and flow conditions.
- Help produce and maintain project data sheets.
- Assist in developing technical specifications for auxiliary equipment procurement, such as fans, burners, and pumps.
- Coordinate with Applications Engineers on design changes and improvements.
- Review vendor drawings to verify that process guarantees are met.
- Provide feedback to improve internal application programs and assist the Engineering Department with new standards.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Mechanical or Chemical Engineering program.
- Interest in heat transfer, fluid flow, and thermodynamics.
- Proficiency with MS Office tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to manage multiple project deadlines.
- Professional communication skills when working with internal and external partners.
- A desire to grow individually and contribute to process improvements.
