About the role#
Delta Dental of Michigan is seeking an intern for the Knowledge Science team for the Fall 2026 semester. This is a part-time, hybrid position based in Okemos, Michigan. This role is paid and does not offer sponsorship.
What you'll do#
- Work on knowledge-based computation platforms.
- Contribute to AI-enabled business rules frameworks, including Decision Modeling, Orchestration, and Domain Specific Languages.
- Gain experience with modern system architectures such as Service-Oriented Architecture, Event-Driven Architecture, REST, JSON, Kafka, and containerization.
- Apply your Computer Science and Engineering coursework to real-world problems.
- Communicate technical work to other teams and practice explaining complex subjects to a business audience.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Completion of at least one course or equivalent experience in Java, Python, C++, or a similar language.
- Demonstrated programming experience in at least one mainstream language.
- Solid skills in data structure and algorithm design and analysis.
- Understanding of software architecture, Object-Oriented analysis and design, and common design patterns.
- Knowledge of core mathematical concepts for Computer Science, such as set theory and mathematical logic.
- Ability to work well in a team and solve problems with strong analytical thinking.
