About the role#
The Writing Center at Delaware Valley University seeks a student tutor to provide one-on-one writing assistance to undergraduate students. You will support peers across various writing topics and stages of the writing process. This role requires a commitment to continuous learning and the ability to document tutoring sessions accurately.
What you'll do#
- Tutor students in writing skills and provide suggestions for revisions.
- Explain editing strategies and help students correct grammar and punctuation errors.
- Assist students with documentation systems like APA and MLA.
- Greet students and manage the sign-in process.
- Maintain detailed records for each tutoring session.
- Participate in training sessions and attend regular staff meetings.
- Communicate with students, coworkers, and your supervisor.
- Use software including Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, Zoom, Outlook, and Word.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a student at Delaware Valley University.
- A minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- Knowledge of MLA and APA documentation systems.
- Experience with Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, Zoom, Outlook, and Word.
- Ability to create a welcoming and friendly atmosphere for all students.
