About the role#
Equestrian Center staff members manage the daily care of horses and the upkeep of the facility. You will work alongside other students and the Stable Manager to ensure the horses have a safe environment for learning and working. This is a part-time, on-site role with rolling start dates.
What you'll do#
- Perform general stable tasks like cleaning stalls, feeding hay and grain, watering, and turning horses in and out.
- Provide extra care for horses, such as blanketing, bathing, giving supplements, hand walking, and grooming.
- Keep the facility clean, including restrooms, the mezzanine, feed rooms, hay stalls, turnout fields, and common grounds.
- Handle maintenance projects like painting, pulling weeds, scrubbing fences, shoveling snow, and removing cobwebs.
- Work a variety of shifts, including mornings, afternoons, nights, weekends, holidays, and breaks.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a student at Delaware Valley University.
- Authorization to work in the United States with valid documentation.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs or more, stand or walk for long periods, and perform physical tasks like bending and crouching.
- Comfort working in outdoor conditions, including exposure to dust, dirt, grease, and animal-related environments.
- Previous horse experience is preferred but not required.
- Completion of the Equine Practicum course is preferred.
- Experience operating small farm equipment, such as a golf cart or electric Gator, is preferred.
