About the role#
The Procurement Intern supports the Procurement & Sustainability Department with purchasing, data entry, and reporting. You will gain hands-on experience with supply chain operations while helping the team source products and manage vendor relationships. This role works with internal departments to ensure the organization has the supplies and services needed to support our mission.
What you'll do#
- Assist with data entry and reporting for the department.
- Support procurement ordering by tracking commodities, entering orders, and maintaining order guides.
- Research products, pricing, availability, and potential vendors.
- Maintain accurate records for vendors, products, and purchases.
- Track purchase orders, deliveries, and outstanding orders.
- Organize vendor quotes, invoices, and other procurement documents.
- Communicate with vendors and assist with research projects.
- Use spreadsheets and other tools to track procurement data.
- Collaborate with internal teams and handle special projects as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate degree program, preferably in Business, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Operations, Finance, Hospitality, or Food Systems.
- Interest or experience in procurement, purchasing, or business operations.
- Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
- Attention to detail and the ability to keep accurate records.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, or the ability to learn new systems quickly.
- Ability to work independently and with others.
- A dependable and professional attitude with a willingness to learn.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid, on-site position located in Washington, DC.
- The internship term is rolling.
- You must be capable of independent local travel.
- You may occasionally move office equipment weighing up to 20 pounds.
- The work environment includes time in an office and a commercial kitchen, where you may encounter extreme temperatures, noise, or various odors.
