About the role#
DBR is hiring an Electrical Design Intern to join our team in Houston, Dallas, or San Antonio. This is a full-time, paid internship with a rolling start date. You will work on-site and support our engineering team on various projects.
What you'll do#
- Create concepts and design requirements for power distribution, one-line diagrams, and lighting layouts.
- Plan interior and exterior lighting based on photometric data and energy codes.
- Design lighting control systems that meet owner requirements and energy standards.
- Calculate electrical service and design distribution systems using proper conductor sizes, derating, and AIC ratings.
- Apply standards from the National Electrical Code, NFPA 101, life safety codes, and the IBC.
- Review construction submittals and answer questions from contractors.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor of Architectural Engineering program.
- Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD or Revit.
- Ability to work effectively within a project team.
- A positive attitude and a willingness to ask questions and learn.
