About the role#
DBR is hiring a Plumbing Design Intern to work on-site in either Houston or Dallas. This is a full-time, paid internship with a rolling start date. You will support our engineering teams by planning building plumbing systems and assisting with construction administration.
What you'll do#
- Plan utility requirements for building plumbing systems.
- Route piping for drainage waste and vent (DWV), specialty drainage, domestic water, storm, and fuel gas systems.
- Calculate fixture units, roof areas, fuel demands, and system lengths to size piping and equipment.
- Research and apply model plumbing and building codes.
- Calculate domestic hot water and pressure needs for equipment sizing.
- Assist with space planning for central infrastructure.
- Prepare plumbing plans, riser diagrams, details, notes, and schedules.
- Select and schedule plumbing fixtures, trim, and specialties.
- Coordinate with other disciplines across multiple design projects.
- Assist with site visits, submittal reviews, shop drawing reviews, and RFI responses.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Architectural Engineering or Civil Engineering.
- Eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and Revit.
- Ability to work as part of a project team and communicate clearly.
- A positive attitude and a willingness to learn and ask questions.
