    About the role#

    As an Electrical Engineering Intern, you will work with a project team to perform engineering and design tasks. You will gain hands-on experience while applying engineering principles under the supervision of senior staff. This role involves both office-based design work and site visits to support substation projects.

    What you'll do#

    • Create design documents, wiring diagrams, and bills of materials.
    • Apply field mark-ups to project as-built drawings.
    • Perform engineering support tasks including relay burden, lighting, load flow, and short circuit calculations.
    • Use engineering software for ground grid design, relay coordination, and transformer sizing.
    • Learn and apply industry standards such as NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE, and ANSI.
    • Visit job sites to gain practical knowledge of substation construction.
    • Identify project problems and suggest solutions.
    • Complete assigned tasks to meet project schedules.
    • Travel out of town for short periods as required.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program in Electrical Engineering at an accredited university.
    • A power focus and prior internship or work experience in the power field are preferred.
    • Foundational knowledge of electrical AC/DC and three-phase power systems.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to work well within a team.
    • Proficiency in common word processing, spreadsheet, and email software.
    • Demonstrated leadership skills.
