About the role#
As a Civil Engineering Intern, you will join a project team to perform engineering and design tasks. You will work under direct supervision to develop your job knowledge and professional abilities. This role involves a mix of office-based design work and field-based training at construction sites.
What you'll do#
- Create or modify civil and structural design documents and drawings.
- Perform engineering support tasks including structural analysis and wind load calculations.
- Apply engineering standards such as NESC, IEEE, ANSI, AISC, and ACI.
- Use the internal document management system and follow corporate engineering practices.
- Visit job sites to gain hands-on experience in substation construction and design.
- Ensure the quality and accuracy of your own work.
- Identify project-related problems and suggest potential solutions to your supervisor.
- Travel out of town for short periods as projects require.
- Handle special projects and other duties as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Working towards a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
- A power focus and prior internship or work experience in the power field are preferred.
- Knowledge of steel and concrete design and basic structural analysis.
- Proficiency with common word processing, spreadsheet, and email software.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate clearly with others.
- You must be at least 18 years of age.

- Location: Austin, Texas.
- This is an on-site, full-time, paid internship.
- The term is rolling.
- This position does not provide visa sponsorship.
