About the role#
As a Civil Engineering Intern at Dashiell, you will join a project team to support the design and construction of electric infrastructure. You will work under direct supervision to apply engineering principles to real projects. This role involves a mix of office-based design work and on-site visits to gain practical experience in substation construction.
What you'll do#
- Create and modify civil and structural design documents and drawings.
- Perform engineering support tasks including wind load calculations and structural analysis.
- Learn and apply industry standards such as NESC, IEEE, ANSI, AISC, and ACI.
- Use the internal document management system and follow corporate engineering practices.
- Visit job sites to observe construction and design in action.
- Take personal responsibility for the quality and accuracy of your work.
- Identify potential project problems and suggest solutions to your team.
- Travel out of town for short periods as required by project needs.
- Assist with special projects and other assigned duties.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor of Science program for Civil Engineering at an accredited university.
- A focus on power engineering is preferred.
- Prior internship or work experience in the power field is a plus.
- Knowledge of steel and concrete design and basic structural analysis.
- Proficiency with standard word processing, spreadsheet, and email software.
- Ability to work well in a team and communicate effectively with coworkers, vendors, and clients.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
