    About the role#

    As a Hardware Engineering Intern, you will work directly on the sensor stack used by vehicles to map roads for cities across the country. You will collaborate with engineering and product teams to learn how hardware is designed, tested, and built. This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027 based in our office.

    What you'll do#

    • Design and iterate sensor mounts and enclosures in CAD, from initial sketches to finished parts.
    • Develop and execute tests, including designing fixtures and writing concise test plans and reports.
    • Write simple scripts, such as Python or Bash, to automate testing processes.
    • Collaborate with engineering and product teams on hardware development.

    What you'll need#

    • Current pursuit of a degree in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
    • Fluency in 3D CAD software.
    • Ability to develop and execute tests, design fixtures, and write automation scripts.
    • Strong communication skills and a desire to work in a collaborative environment.
    • Excitement to learn new technologies and apply them quickly.
    • Experience designing for outdoor, automotive, or industrial applications, such as weatherproofing or vibration management, is helpful.
    • An understanding of DFX methods like manufacturability, usability, and repairability is a plus.
    • A portfolio of things you have built is welcome.

    • This role is based in Somerville, Massachusetts.
    • You must be able to work on-site at our office.
