About the role#
As a Summer Engineering Intern, you will work directly on the systems and features that power our platform. You will not be working on side projects. Instead, you will contribute to user interfaces, backend services, and machine learning models that ship to customers. You will gain experience building scalable software and learn how to navigate a production codebase. We prioritize mentorship through regular pairing, code reviews, and direct feedback.
What you'll do#
- Build frontend and backend features that help governments manage infrastructure.
- Collaborate with engineers, designers, and product managers to launch new capabilities.
- Write and test code for APIs and services using Python and Supabase.
- Gain experience with cloud-based tools and DevOps workflows.
- Develop fluency using AI coding agents on a large production codebase, including directing agents and reviewing their output.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong programming skills in Python.
- Basic understanding of databases and SQL, with Postgres experience as a plus.
- Comfort using AI coding agents like Claude Code or Cursor in your development workflow.
- Ability to communicate well and work in a collaborative environment.
- Excitement to learn new technologies and apply them quickly.

- This internship is based in our Somerville, Massachusetts office.
- The role is full-time for the Summer 2027 term.
- This is a paid position.
