About the role#
As a Data Operations Intern, you will join the team responsible for turning raw sensor data into actionable map layers for cities. You will manage pieces of our processing pipeline, run customer deliveries from start to finish, and identify data issues before they reach our clients. This role is based in our Boston office for the Summer 2027 term.
What you'll do#
- Process customer deliveries end to end.
- Run geospatial data through Python pipelines, validate results, and publish final layers to the Cyvl platform.
- Build automated quality control checks to review data.
- Investigate stalled or failed jobs in AWS pipelines, identify the root cause, and document your fixes.
- Automate manual tasks into repeatable scripts and runbooks while tracking the time saved.
- Partner with engineering and customer success teams to resolve field-reported issues.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Python and experience writing scripts to read, transform, and validate data.
- Comfort working in a terminal and using version control.
- Availability for a full-time, 10 to 12 week internship in Summer 2027.
- Familiarity with GIS tools like QGIS or ArcGIS and geospatial formats such as GeoJSON, shapefiles, or GeoPackage.
- Experience with AWS cloud infrastructure and SQL.
- Exposure to geospatial Python libraries like geopandas or shapely.
- Interest in civic infrastructure, transportation, or public-sector technology.
- Experience building dashboards or aggregating data for non-technical users.
