About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. Working under the direction of a preceptor, you will follow a training roadmap to gain experience in pharmacy operations. This role prepares you for future responsibilities as a Pharmacist by immersing you in daily pharmacy workflows and team collaboration.
What you'll do#
- Follow company standard operating procedures at every workstation.
- Assist with prescription fulfillment across production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Provide caring service to patients, including fielding medical questions and offering counseling under pharmacist supervision.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication details.
- Coach and mentor pharmacy team members to share best practices.
- Manage inventory activities like cycle counts and returns.
- Deliver health care services, including immunizations and point-of-care testing, where permitted by law.
- Educate patients on vaccines and monitor for adverse reactions.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- At least 1 year of work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings.
- Ability to complete required training within the designated timeframe.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Capability to perform math for prescription calculations, such as day's supply and dosage.
- Ability to concentrate on tasks, pivot between responsibilities, and ensure label accuracy.
- Willingness to become immunization certified and travel to other stores in the market as needed.
