About the role#
This part-time engineering student position offers an opportunity to support engine testing operations at our Columbus, Indiana facility. This role is designed to accommodate a student schedule, with a maximum of 19 hours per week. We are seeking students pursuing degrees in Cybersecurity or Computer Science, with a preference for those currently enrolled in a cybersecurity program or specialization.
What you'll do#
- Ensure reliable data acquisition by maintaining and troubleshooting systems such as Cyflex, Calterm, and Indicom.
- Maintain sensor accuracy through regular calibration and verification to provide trustworthy data for engineering decisions.
- Support engine testing operations by performing mechanical tasks, including engine installation and removal.
- Optimize test cell equipment and configurations to ensure smooth operations and minimize downtime.
- Monitor emissions and performance metrics, including tracking exhaust data and engine efficiency using tools like AVL, Horiba, FTIR, and fluid flow meters.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to validate designs and align testing activities with development timelines.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in high school or post-secondary school, with a minimum age of 16.
- Pursuit of a bachelor degree in Cybersecurity or Computer Science.
- Technical proficiency with data acquisition systems and emissions tools.
- Mechanical aptitude for engine installations, removals, and test cell configurations.
- Strong attention to detail for monitoring and collecting data from instruments with high accuracy.
- A problem-solving mindset to resolve issues in instrumentation, mechanical setups, or data anomalies.
- Effective communication skills to work alongside engineering teams.
