About the role#
This internship offers an opportunity to work with a vertically integrated company, gaining experience across multiple aspects of construction management. You will spend your time focusing on heavy construction activities, asphalt plant operations, and business management.
What you'll do#
- Manage public and private construction projects.
- Find, bid, and build heavy construction projects using bidding software.
- Set up contracts and subcontracts while working with estimators, project managers, and crew foremen.
- Assist with asphalt plant operations, including working with the yard crew, loader operators, and learning to run scales.
- Perform general plant maintenance.
- Work on construction or prep crews to learn job setup and the use of construction equipment.
- Develop an understanding of job costs, workloads, and the basics of P&L.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree program in Construction Management or Operations Management, or two to four years of related experience.
- Proficiency in Windows, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Strong communication skills for writing reports and speaking with customers or employees.
- Mathematical skills to compute rates, ratios, and percentages, and to interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
- A professional and courteous attitude.
- Strict adherence to all safety requirements, company policies, and procedures.
- Willingness to work in a team environment.

- Location: Dunbar, West Virginia.
- Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: This role is full-time. You must be willing to travel, work away from home, and work nights or weekends when necessary.
