About the role#
This is a paid Co-Op position based in Sanford, North Carolina. You will join the Research and Development Packaging team to assist in defining package requirements that meet criteria for functionality, aesthetics, safety, and sustainability. This role runs for the Summer 2027 term and requires full-time, on-site attendance.
What you'll do#
- Define requirements for revised, stock, and custom package designs.
- Develop and document testing plans, drawings, and final specifications.
- Collaborate with internal departments to determine the feasibility of new and existing designs regarding cost and functionality.
- Research alternative designs to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
- Manage the accuracy and modification of Bills of Material for products produced at the site.
- Resolve specification and component issues for existing packages.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a B.S. degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, or Environmental Engineering, or related fields like Physics, Supply Chain, Logistics, or Business Administration, with 1-2 years remaining until graduation.
- Understanding of materials and tooling used for rigid and flexible packaging.
- Knowledge of how multiple components and assembly methods interact.
- Analytical problem-solving and information-gathering skills.
- Intermediate to advanced computer skills, specifically with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Access.
