About the role#
Core Specialty Insurance Holdings, Inc. is hiring an Actuarial Reserving Intern for the Summer 2027 program. This is a full-time, 12-week internship based on-site in Chicago. You will work directly with our actuarial team on meaningful projects while receiving guidance as you progress through your actuarial exams.
What you'll do#
- Prepare quarterly reserve reviews to ensure accurate recording.
- Create and distribute the Quarterly Reserve Report.
- Manage CAT reporting and track incurred claims against reserve indications.
- Monitor loss emergence against plan assumptions and summarize findings for management.
- Produce monthly AvE reports covering CAT, Large Loss, and Attritional categories.
- Develop metrics to identify trends in loss costs and maintain stable attritional loss ratios.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Actuarial Science, or a related field.
- Progress toward CAS preliminary exams, with a strong preference for candidates who have passed at least one exam.
- Basic Excel skills and an interest in the insurance industry.
- Ability to learn and apply technical concepts to real-world tasks.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to manage time, meet deadlines, and prioritize work with guidance.
- Receptiveness to feedback and a willingness to seek assistance when needed.
