About the role#
As an Underwriting Intern for E&S Property, you will work directly with our property underwriting team. This is a full-time, 12-week summer program designed to provide hands-on experience and exposure to company leadership. You will contribute to real projects while building your knowledge of the insurance industry.
What you'll do#
- Assist underwriters with the pre-qualification of accounts submitted by broker partners.
- Prepare accounts for modeling to ensure timely processing.
- Maintain accurate status updates for accounts within our systems throughout the underwriting life cycle.
- Meet established timeframes to provide quality service to our broker partners.
- Participate in training sessions, speaker events, and program meetings to support your professional development.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor's degree program, preferably in Business, Accounting, or Finance.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage your time and prioritize multiple responsibilities effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.
- Basic understanding of Power BI and Adobe.
- Capability to analyze complex issues and explain them clearly.
- Ability to work effectively at both a high level and a detailed level.
- A background in Risk Management and Insurance is preferred.

- This position is based on-site in Birmingham, Alabama.
- This is a paid, full-time internship for Summer 2027.
- Candidates must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States. We do not provide visa sponsorship for this role.
