About the role#
Cordell and Cordell PC is hiring a Summer Associate for the Summer 2027 term. This is a paid, full-time, on-site internship based in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The program mirrors the experience of a first-year associate, providing practical legal work and mentorship from firm leaders. This role serves as a potential pathway to future law clerk or full-time associate positions.
What you'll do#
- Draft and analyze legal documents for active family law cases.
- Conduct legal research and prepare trial materials.
- Attend court proceedings alongside experienced attorneys.
- Join client meetings to observe and learn case strategy.
- Work directly with a Litigation Partner to build a foundation in family law practice.
- Participate in firm-sponsored networking and social events.
- Assist with other tasks as needed to support firm operations.
What you'll need#
- You are currently a 2L student expecting to graduate in 2028, in good standing at an accredited law school.
- You have a demonstrated interest in a career in family law.
- Your law school GPA is 3.0 or higher.
- You have strong written and verbal communication skills.
- You are able to relocate or reside in Ann Arbor for the duration of the program.
- You have flexibility regarding your work location upon graduation.
