About the role#
Cordell and Cordell PC is hiring a Summer Associate for our Wilmington, North Carolina office. This paid, full-time internship is designed for law students interested in family law. You will work alongside experienced attorneys and firm leaders, gaining practical experience that mirrors the responsibilities of a first-year associate. This program serves as a potential pathway to future law clerk or full-time associate positions.
What you'll do#
- Draft and analyze legal documents for active family law cases.
- Conduct legal research and help prepare trial materials.
- Attend court proceedings with experienced attorneys.
- Participate in client meetings to learn about case strategy.
- Work directly with a Litigation Partner to build your understanding of family law practice.
- Attend firm-sponsored networking and social events.
- Assist with other tasks necessary for firm operations.
What you'll need#
- Current status as a 2L student (2028 graduate) in good standing at an accredited law school.
- A minimum law school GPA of 3.0.
- A clear interest in a career in family law.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to reside in Wilmington for the duration of the program.
- Flexibility regarding work location upon graduation.

- Work Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $35 per hour.
- Note: This role is not eligible for full-time benefits or additional bonuses.
