Editorial Intern

About the role#

Community Impact offers a 10-12 week full-time summer internship for individuals pursuing a career in local journalism. Interns work alongside experienced editors and reporters to gain hands-on newsroom experience, contributing to both print and digital publications that serve communities across Texas.

What you'll do#

• Write web stories and contribute content to the print product.
• Write for the Impacts and To-do List sections of the paper.
• Shadow reporters at local government meetings.
• Attend community meetings and events outside of regular office hours to connect with sources and take photos.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in a degree program for journalism, communications, or a related field (or graduation within six months of the start date).
• Experience writing in AP Style, ideally through a student publication or media company.
• Reliable transportation for travel within the communities served.

• Location: Pflugerville, Texas.
• Term: Summer 2026.
• Modality: On-site.
• Schedule: Full-time, Monday through Friday, with occasional evening shifts required.
