About the role#
The Respiratory Therapy Student Tech provides basic respiratory care services under the direction of a licensed respiratory therapist or physician. You will support patient care by maintaining equipment and ensuring an organized environment. This is a part-time, on-site role based in Dothan, Alabama.
What you'll do#
- Assist licensed therapists with the preparation and administration of basic respiratory treatments like oxygen therapy, aerosol treatments, and incentive spirometry.
- Monitor patients during treatments and report any unusual observations to your supervisor.
- Clean, maintain, and set up respiratory equipment while following safety and infection control protocols.
- Record treatment administration and patient responses in the medical record.
- Prepare supplies and equipment for procedures to ensure proper stock levels.
- Educate patients and families on basic respiratory exercises.
- Maintain regular attendance and follow all departmental policies.
What you'll need#
- Completion of a Respiratory Therapy Technician training program or related healthcare coursework is preferred.
- Up to one year of experience in respiratory care or a related field is preferred.
- Experience in pulmonary function testing or oxygen therapy support is a plus.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and work effectively under supervision.
- Strong communication skills for interacting with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
- Basic Life Support (BCLS) certification, which must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
