About the role#
The MHC Fellow will support the Resilience and Equity in the Clean Energy Sectors (RECESS) organization in Detroit. This role focuses on two main initiatives: clean energy education and workforce development, and the development of a Commercial Virtual Power Plant (VPP) proposal. You will work with internal teams and external partners to advance strategic priorities and promote equitable access to clean energy.
What you'll do#
- Support cross-functional projects and measure the annual and cumulative impacts of RECESS23-25.
- Collaborate with internal teams, community partners, universities, and government stakeholders.
- Educate and engage communities on clean energy initiatives and Virtual Power Plants.
- Research clean energy technologies, distributed energy resources, and best practices for virtual power plants.
- Develop case studies that showcase success stories and best practices.
- Plan meetings and educational programs to help the community access climate resources.
- Participate in MHC Fellows development activities, including in-person convenings and monthly virtual trainings.

- Location: Detroit, Michigan.
- Term: Winter 2027 to Summer 2027 (January 13, 2027 to August 20, 2027).
- Modality: Hybrid, with 2 days in-person and 3 days remote.
- Status: Full-time, paid position.
