About the role#
Commerce Bank is hiring for a Summer 2027 Business Banking Internship. This is a paid, full-time program designed to provide hands-on experience in the banking industry. You will work on strategic projects, attend networking events, and interact with executive leadership during your 11-week tenure.
What you'll do#
- Support relationship and portfolio managers by preparing loan documentation and monitoring existing loans.
- Conduct financial analysis on companies across various industries and sizes.
- Train on credit analysis and the underwriting process, including cash flow and collateral assessment.
- Complete a rotational program across local lines of business, including Commercial, Treasury, Trust, Retail, and Community Markets.
- Participate in loan committee meetings for new requests and renewals.
- Attend weekly lunch-and-learns and community service activities.
What you'll need#
- Junior or Senior status in a bachelor's degree program, preferably in Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting.
- Basic knowledge of the banking, accounting, or finance fields.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- High attention to detail and organizational habits.
- Ability to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

- Location: Kansas City, Missouri.
- Schedule: Full-time, Monday through Friday.
- Work Modality: Hybrid.
- Term: Summer 2027 (May 18, 2027, to July 30, 2027).
