About the role#
The Community Assistant acts as the first point of contact for residents at The Courtyards. You will work with the main office staff to maintain a welcoming environment for students. This position requires a commitment of at least 10 hours per week, with some evening and weekend availability. You will remain in this role through June 4, 2027.
What you'll do#
- Answer phones and transfer calls to the appropriate staff member.
- Log packages in and out and conduct regular audits.
- Manage loaner keys and perform key audits to ensure items are returned on time.
- Assist residents with installment payments and write receipts.
- Provide clerical support including database entry, filing, copying, and scanning.
- Complete daily operations logs and online training modules.
- Support office staff with special projects and facility opening or closing procedures.
What you'll need#
- Full-time enrollment as a degree-seeking student at the University of Maryland.
- A cumulative grade point average of at least 2.6.
- A high school diploma.
- Strong computer skills, specifically with Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to move and lift up to 25 pounds.
- Good standing with University of Maryland student conduct.
- Preferred majors include Business Administration, Communications, or Media Studies.
Location & details#
- The role is located in College Park, Maryland.
- This is an on-site, paid position at $15.00 per hour.
- You must be available to start training on August 20, 2026.
- Opportunities are available for Fall 2026, Winter 2027, and Summer 2027.
