About the role#
As a Software Engineering Intern, you will work on designing, developing, and maintaining software systems. You will apply engineering principles to create solutions that range from individual applications to larger systems. This role involves coding, testing, and debugging to ensure software is efficient and user-friendly. You will work both independently and as part of a team to support business needs.
What you'll do#
- Write, develop, evaluate, and document new and modified software programs.
- Test and prepare software applications for installation.
- Support end users with software troubleshooting and training.
- Research, investigate, and select technical data for assigned projects.
- Communicate engineering requirements with internal teams and external sources.
- Facilitate software asset management and maintenance contracts.
- Prepare and present technical reports and recommendations.
- Participate in department improvement activities.
- Learn and promote the quality management system in accordance with ISO standards.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled as a college student pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
- Strong proficiency in C and C++ programming.
- Experience with Git version control.
- Development experience targeting embedded Linux using the Yocto Project.
- Comfort working in a Linux development environment.
- Familiarity with reading schematics.
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostics problem solving skills.
Location & details#
- Location: Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Schedule: Full-time (40 hours per week).
- Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $22.66 to $30.90 per hour.
