About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027 based in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. You will work on-site with our engineering teams to support the development of embedded software for agricultural equipment and precision technology. This role offers hands-on experience in real-time control systems and system integration.
What you'll do#
- Assist in the design, development, testing, and validation of embedded software.
- Help implement and debug features using C and C++.
- Participate in software verification through bench, simulation, and field testing.
- Analyze CAN/J1939 network traffic to troubleshoot integration issues.
- Collaborate with software, systems, validation, and product engineering teams.
- Support root cause investigations for defect reports and customer-reported issues.
- Present your technical findings and project results to engineering leadership at the end of the summer.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or Computer Science.
- Basic programming experience in C, C++, or Python.
- Understanding of software development fundamentals, debugging, and version control.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Coursework or projects involving embedded systems or microcontrollers.
- Familiarity with laboratory equipment like oscilloscopes or logic analyzers is helpful.
- Knowledge of communication protocols such as CAN, J1939, ISOBUS, or Ethernet.
- Exposure to RTOS concepts, Git, automated testing, or continuous integration.
- An interest in agriculture, autonomous systems, or vehicle electronics.
