About the role#
As a GIS Technician Intern, you will assist with the storage, manipulation, and display of geographically referenced information. You will work under the direction of a GIS Analyst II to support daily production needs and specific utility projects. This role involves data manipulation, quality assurance, and the maintenance of spatial data and attributes.
What you'll do#
- Perform technical work to support daily production and project requirements.
- Transfer information from utility as-builts, service cards, and spreadsheets into GIS software.
- Review data and run processing procedures to ensure adherence to standards and policies.
- Analyze data and document your findings for your supervisor.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a degree program for Geospatial Sciences, Geography, Geology, Community and Regional/Urban Planning, or a related field.
- Experience with Esri ArcGIS toolset.
- Experience with Autodesk AutoCAD.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team.
- A willingness to learn and adapt to emerging technologies, including mobile devices and cloud-based systems.
- Ability to visually differentiate between color-coded lines and symbols.
Location & details#
- This position is located in Springfield, Missouri.
- Work is on-site, Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm.
- You must be enrolled as a full-time student in a degree-seeking program and have completed at least one year of college.
- Hours are 20 to 25 hours per week during school semesters and up to 40 hours per week during the summer, not to exceed 1,500 hours per calendar year.
- Pay ranges from $18.00 to $21.00 per hour, depending on classification.
