About the role#
The Eco-Innovators program connects high school students with environmental leaders to create projects that improve local communities. We are looking for two interns to support our year-round afterschool program. You will work at two of our four program sites across Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens. This role provides hands-on experience in youth development and environmental science education.
What you'll do#
- Support the Program Manager with curricular implementation at two hubs.
- Co-facilitate lessons, service-learning projects, and field experiences for high school students.
- Mentor and supervise up to 25 students during park activities and field trips.
- Handle administrative duties and gather program materials, photos, and student anecdotes.
- Facilitate two 2-hour sessions at two different sites each week.
- Dedicate 1-2 hours per week to planning and analyzing student work.
- Participate in one to two overnight field trips per semester.
- Engage in light to moderate physical activity while working outdoors.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or recent graduation from a Bachelor's degree program in education, ecology, biology, environmental science, or a related field.
- Interest in environmental STEM, advocacy, and nonprofit operations.
- Ability to communicate professionally and collaborate with a team.
- Willingness to receive feedback and develop new skills.
- Commitment to the program schedule and travel to assigned sites.

- Term: Fall 2026 and Winter 2027.

- Compensation: $20 per hour.
