    About the role#

    The City of Ann Arbor Engineering Department is hiring a student intern to support the design, construction, and close-out of public improvement projects. You will work with project managers on utility, road, and sidewalk installations. This is a seasonal part-time position for up to 29 hours per week, lasting between 6 and 9 months.

    What you'll do#

    • Assist with data entry and public communication tasks.
    • Coordinate projects, review plans, and process submittals.
    • Prepare agendas and minutes for design and construction meetings.
    • Handle permit applications, construction progress payments, and invoice approvals.
    • Collect field data and conduct site reviews.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in Engineering, Construction Management, Civil Technology, Surveying, or a related field.
    • A valid driver's license to travel to local job sites.
    • Ability to perform construction inspections in all weather conditions.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer skills.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills to explain technical information to various audiences.
    • Ability to work in a team and follow instructions.
