About the role#
This internship provides an opportunity to support the Hydro and Dams group within the Energy and Resources business center. You will work alongside experienced practitioners on projects involving water storage, hydropower, and conveyance infrastructure. This role is designed to help you connect your academic studies to the business environment while gaining hands-on experience in geological and civil engineering.
What you'll do#
- Assist in developing project proposals, including scheduling and cost estimates.
- Write technical documents such as calculation packages, design reports, and specifications.
- Support field investigations and the assessment of subsurface conditions by reviewing drilling logs and in-situ testing data.
- Perform geotechnical material characterization and interpret material properties using laboratory and field data.
- Handle project administration tasks, including writing reports, drafting correspondence, and tracking project costs.
- Perform research and contact vendors for project information.
- Complete data entry and gain exposure to software such as CAD, GIS, GeoStudio, RocScience, and Bluebeam.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited engineering program.
- Completion of at least 3 years of undergraduate coursework in civil engineering, geological engineering, or a related field.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and take direction.
- Valid driver's license and a good driving record.
