About the role#
CHS Inc. is seeking a Safety Specialist or Industrial Hygiene Intern for our refinery in Laurel, Montana. This position takes place during the Summer of 2027. You will work alongside our Health and Safety staff to support regulatory compliance programs and maintain safety standards.
What you'll do#
- Identify and resolve basic safety issues to assist in hazard recognition.
- Use computer systems and spreadsheets to monitor, track, and analyze safety data.
- Prepare comprehensive reports based on your findings.
- Collaborate with the refinery safety department team.
- Build professional relationships with management, employees, union personnel, and contractors.
- Share concepts and implementation strategies across business units.
- Plan and prioritize safety issues that affect employees and contractors.
- Attend safety meetings and present safety topics to the team.
What you'll need#
- Completion of your sophomore or junior year in Occupational Safety and Health or a related field from an accredited program.
- A cumulative GPA of 2.6 or higher.
- A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred.
- Previous internship or work experience in the oil and gas industry is preferred.
