The Wells Engineering Internship provides students with the opportunity to work on substantive projects alongside drilling and completions engineers. Interns contribute to the energy value chain by participating in optimization studies, project look-back reviews, and well design analyses. This role offers exposure to Chevron’s safety and technology culture, with potential opportunities to spend time on a drilling or workover rig or within the Decision Support Center.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with drilling or completions engineers on active projects.
- Conduct optimization studies and project look-back reviews.
- Participate in safety and environmental performance studies.
- Perform contractor analyses and contribute to well design reviews.
- Build professional relationships and gain insight into career paths at Chevron.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. program in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Strong academic performance in core coursework.
- Demonstrated skills in communication, leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving.
- Ability to demonstrate The Chevron Way.
- Availability to drive on a routine basis if required by the specific assignment.

- Locations: Houston, Texas; Bakersfield, California; Midland, Texas; Covington, Louisiana; Greeley, Colorado.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Employment Type: Full-time.
- Compensation: Paid position with an anticipated pay range of $31.75 per hour to $9,200 per month, depending on role, degree level, and academic year.
- Benefits: Includes furnished housing and participation in the Employee Savings Investment Plan with company matching contributions.
