The Marketing and Communications department at Chatham University is seeking a student to serve as a Social Media Photographer/Videographer for the 2026–2027 academic year. Reporting to the Social Media Specialist and Marketing Director, this role focuses on creating visual content that captures student life and the campus experience. You will work closely with the Digital Media Ambassador to film, photograph, and produce engaging assets for university social media channels.
What you'll do#
- Capture photo and video content at campus events, student activities, and key university moments.
- Film Instagram Reels, TikToks, and other short-form video content, often featuring the Digital Media Ambassador.
- Take candid and posed photos of students, campus spaces, and day-to-day campus life.
- Assist the Digital Media Ambassador in executing content ideas, including filming, setting up shots, and capturing multiple angles.
- Edit photos and assist with basic video editing for social media.
- Contribute to the Marketing team's photo and video content library.
- Collaborate with the Marketing team during shoots and participate in monthly content brainstorming meetings.
What you'll need#
- Current sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate student status in any major.
- A strong interest in photography, videography, or content creation.
- Strong attention to detail and visual composition skills.
- Ability to take initiative and capture moments in real time.
- Comfort working collaboratively and taking direction.
- Reliability, organization, and strong communication skills.
- Experience using a camera, smartphone, or editing tools (e.g., Adobe, CapCut) is preferred but not required.
Location & details#
- Location: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (On-site).
- Term: Summer 2026.
- Compensation: $11 per hour.
- Work Schedule: Roughly 5–10 hours per week. Core hours are Monday–Friday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., with two hours of in-office work required per week at Beatty House on the Shadyside Campus.
- Equipment: Students do not need to own their own camera for this role.
