About the role#
The Marketing and Communications department is seeking a student photographer and videographer to support visual content creation for social media. Working under the direction of the Social Media Specialist and Marketing Director, you will help capture the student experience and campus life. This role involves close collaboration with the Digital Media Ambassador to produce engaging content for various university channels.
What you'll do#
- Capture photo and video content at campus events, student activities, and key university moments.
- Film short-form video content, such as Instagram Reels and TikToks, often featuring the Digital Media Ambassador.
- Take candid and posed photos of students, campus spaces, and daily campus life.
- Assist the Digital Media Ambassador in executing content ideas, including setting up shots and capturing multiple angles.
- Edit photos and assist with basic video editing for social media.
- Contribute assets to the marketing team content library and participate in monthly brainstorming meetings.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate student in any major.
- An interest in photography, videography, or content creation.
- Strong attention to detail and visual composition.
- Ability to take initiative and capture moments in real time.
- Reliable, organized, and communicative approach to work.
- Experience with cameras, smartphones, or editing tools like Adobe or CapCut is preferred but not required.
Location & details#
- Location: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
- Term: Summer 2026.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $11 per hour.
- Schedule: Roughly 5 to 10 hours per week. Core hours are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with two hours of required in-office work per week at Beatty House on the Shadyside Campus. Event coverage may be arranged in advance.
