About the role#
As a Humanities Student Assistant, you will support the daily operations of the Humanities Department at Chatham University. This on-campus position provides an opportunity to work closely with faculty and staff while gaining experience in office administration, event planning, and student outreach. The role is designed to evolve based on the skills and interests you bring to the department.
What you'll do#
- Perform administrative tasks including copying, scanning, filing, managing inter-office mail, and maintaining the organization of Lindsay House.
- Coordinate department events, workshops, and information sessions, including handling logistics, promotion, registration, and day-of management.
- Create and distribute content for department social media channels and program email newsletters.
- Engage with the student body through outreach activities, classroom presentations, and partnerships with student organizations to promote the department.
What you'll need#
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work effectively with faculty and staff.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with peers.
- Experience in content creation for social media and newsletters.
- An interest in event management and promotion.
- Current enrollment as a student, with preference for majors in Communications, Human Resources, Psychology, Political Science, or Philosophy.

- Note: This is an unpaid position. Students are limited to a maximum of 20 hours of work per week across all campus jobs during the academic year and may not exceed 980 hours per calendar year.
