About the role#
Caring Hands Animal Hospital offers a Veterinary Technician Student Externship and Preceptorship program in Centreville, Virginia. This program provides practical experience in a clinical setting to help students prepare for their careers. You will work with our veterinarians, technicians, and support staff to gain hands-on experience with routine and emergency veterinary care.
What you'll do#
- Assist with examinations, diagnostics, and treatments.
- Administer medications and vaccinations.
- Monitor anesthesia during surgeries.
- Conduct laboratory tests such as bloodwork and urinalysis.
- Take radiographs.
- Provide care for hospitalized animals.
- Educate pet owners on preventive care.
- Help maintain a clean and organized work environment.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited Veterinary Technician program.
- A strong interest in animal care and a desire to learn.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- You are an enthusiastic participant in patient care.
- Basic knowledge of animal handling and medical terminology is a plus.
